Commander Speaks on Deployment of Marines in L.A.
The commander of the military personnel being deployed to Los Angeles by president Trump during the ongoing protests in the city an update today.
Major general Scott Sherman said about 4,700 personnel have been deployed as part of task force 51, including about 4,000 members of the California national guard and 700 marines.
They are only allowed to protect federal buildings, employees and assets and are not allowed to do any arrests or search and seizure.
However, according to Sherman "They're allowed to temporarily detain and wait for law enforcement to come and arrest and handle those demonstrators."
More than two thousand more military will arrive in Los Angeles later this week Sherman said.
