While these centers offer temporary shelter and basic amenities like water and electricity, their limited hours and regulations don’t fully meet the needs of the area's most vulnerable, including the elderly, disabled, and unhoused individuals living in their cars. Calls are growing for more comprehensive solutions—such as safe overnight parking areas—to protect those with nowhere else to go when the sun goes down.
