La Quinta Man Out on Bail After Allegedly Threatening to Shoot Attendees at Palm Springs Rally

A 28-year-old La Quinta man is out on bail after being arrested for allegedly making an online threat to carry out a shooting at a Palm Springs “No Kings” rally. Authorities said Edward Miranda was taken into custody Saturday following a coordinated investigation by the Palm Springs Police Department and the FBI.

The threat was reported Friday afternoon, when officers were alerted to a post threatening violence against rallygoers. Police say they acted swiftly, serving search warrants at two properties — Miranda’s home on Eisenhower Drive in La Quinta and another residence in San Bernardino County.

A firearm believed to belong to Miranda was recovered during the search. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of making criminal threats and violating civil rights.

Miranda posted $200,000 bail on Sunday and was released. The investigation remains active, and authorities continue to gather information.

“We take all threats to public safety seriously and will vigorously pursue those intent on committing violence in our community,” said Palm Springs Police Chief Andrew Mills.
