Man in Wheelchair Hit, Van Sought
The Cathedral City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a hit-and-run driver.
A 68-year-old man in a wheelchair was hit by two cars while crossing the street.
The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on Date Palm Drive, just south of Gerald Ford.
Police say the first vehicle—a white van—hit the man and fled the scene.
Moments later, a second car also struck the victim.
That second driver stayed behind and is cooperating with police.
The injured man was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Investigators have reviewed nearby surveillance footage.
They believe the suspect vehicle is a white 2011 to 2020 Toyota Sienna.
The van may have visible front-end damage.
Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward.
