Man Arraigned in Deadly Motel 6 Shooting in Indio
A 23-year-old man accused of a deadly shooting at a Motel 6 in Indio has been arraigned. Cameron Isaiah Maestas faces murder charges and multiple firearm enhancements, including allegations of firing from a vehicle and causing great bodily injury.
The shooting occurred at a Motel 6, where police responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite efforts to save him, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators linked a white Toyota Camry to the incident and tracked down the suspect. Maestas was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held without bail at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to gather more details about what led to the shooting.
