Supreme Court Upholds Tennessee Trans Care Ban

Supreme Court Upholds Tennessee Trans Care Ban

The Supreme Court has upheld a Tennessee law restricting gender-affirming care for minors.
The 6 to 3 decision fell along ideological lines—with conservative justices in the majority.
It marks a major moment in the ongoing legal fight over transgender rights.
The ruling allows Tennessee’s ban on puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and transition-related surgeries for minors to stand.
More than 20 other states with similar laws may now see their bans upheld as well.
However, states without such restrictions are not affected by this decision.
The case centered on whether these medical bans violate constitutional rights.
Notably, the justices did not rule on whether parents have the right to make these medical decisions under the 14th Amendment.
That leaves some legal questions unresolved.
Still, the decision could lead to broader enforcement of youth care restrictions across the country.
LGBTQ+ advocates have called the ruling a setback for transgender youth.
Supporters of the law say it protects children from irreversible procedures.
