CDC Warns of Deadly Listeria Outbreak Linked to Walmart and Kroger Pasta Meals

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning consumers about a listeria outbreak tied to certain pre-packaged pasta meals sold at Walmart and Kroger.

At least 17 people across 13 states have fallen ill, with 16 of them hospitalized and three fatalities reported. The CDC has traced the outbreak to chicken fettuccine alfredo meals sold under the Market Side and Home Chef brands.

These refrigerated meals were available at major retailers, including Walmart and Kroger locations nationwide. The affected products are labeled as Market Side Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo and Home Chef Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccine Pasta.

Health officials are urging anyone who purchased these meals to throw them out or return them immediately. Listeria can cause severe illness, especially in pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems.

The CDC continues to investigate the outbreak and advises anyone experiencing symptoms like fever, muscle aches, or gastrointestinal distress after consuming the meals to seek medical attention promptly.
