Elderly Man Drives Down Spanish Steps

In Rome Italy it was quite the wrong turn for an elderly driver on Tuesday.

This Mercedes-Benz driven by an 80 year old man got stuck on the city's legendary Spanish steps.

Local reports say the man made the wrong turn by accident on the way to work.

He did have a valid drivers license and police said he tested negative for alcohol and drugs.

Firefighters used a crane to remove a car from the steps.

The 18th-century staircase has been featured in many movies over the decades including "Roman Holiday" the 1953 film staring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck.

Ten years ago a restoration project of the landmark was completed.
