McDonald’s Urged to End Snapchat Partnership Over Youth Safety Concerns
The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) is urging McDonald’s to end a new promotional partnership with Snapchat, raising alarms about child safety.
The promotion offers customers a free subscription to Snapchat Plus, but the NCPC argues it’s a dangerous move. Snapchat’s parent company, Snap Inc., is reportedly under investigation for its alleged role in enabling drug sales through the app—including deadly substances like fentanyl.
The NCPC says the deal contradicts McDonald’s longtime commitment to protecting children and families. “It’s deeply troubling,” a spokesperson said, “to see a brand as iconic as McDonald’s promoting a platform currently under such scrutiny.”
No official comment has been made by McDonald’s, but the NCPC is pushing for the fast-food chain to reconsider the deal and prioritize the safety and well-being of its younger customers.
