MOTHER, DAUGHTER DETAINED — FAMILY LEFT SHATTERED

A family says they tried to follow the rules, but still ended up torn apart. A mother and her 9-year-old daughter were detained by federal immigration agents earlier this month. It happened during what was supposed to be a routine check-in. Now, their husband and father, Roberto Gutierrez, is left picking up the pieces. He says they were doing everything by the book, filing the right petitions and showing up when asked. But on June 4th, their lives changed in an instant. His wife and stepdaughter were taken into custody — and sent nearly 1,500 miles away to Texas. That’s left Roberto and their baby daughter, both U.S. citizens, struggling to cope. He says the baby calls out for her mom several times a day. And all he can do is keep fighting to bring his family back together. Roberto says it’s not about politics — it’s about keeping families whole. And he’s hoping their story shines a light on the human cost of immigration policies.
