Palm Desert Man Arrested for Suspected Role in Meth Overdose Death

A Palm Desert man has been arrested in connection with a fatal overdose in Cathedral City. Authorities say 55-year-old William Leonard was taken into custody on Wednesday and booked at the Benoy Detention Center in Indio. He is being held on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter.

According to Cathedral City Police, Leonard is suspected of injecting 56-year-old Ricky Heath with narcotics, which ultimately resulted in Heath's death. A toxicology report later confirmed the cause of death as acute methamphetamine intoxication.

The incident has prompted police to issue a call for information. Detectives are continuing their investigation and urge anyone with details about this case to reach out to Detective Ryan.
