Hello Summer! Coachella Valley Welcomes the Longest Day of the Year with Sunshine and Slightly Cooler Temps
Coachella Valley Rings in Summer with Sunshine, Slight Cooldown, and Breezy Days Ahead
Happy Friday and a happy first day of summer, Coachella Valley! Today, June 20th, not only kicks off the summer season but also gives us the longest stretch of daylight in 2025. This means more time to soak up the sun—literally. The sun rose at 5:35 a.m. and won’t set until just around 8:00 p.m., providing us with a generous 14 hours, 24 minutes, and 15 seconds of daylight. Make sure to enjoy every golden second of it!
Today’s high hit 108°F, which is a few degrees above our seasonal average. Still, many locals might have noticed that it felt slightly cooler—especially last night compared to the triple-digit evenings earlier this week. It's not quite a cold front, but it's enough to make a difference for those braving the summer heat.
Let’s not forget—while 108°F is warm, it's still well below the June 20th record of 122°F set back in 2017. Anyone who experienced that scorcher surely hasn't forgotten it!
Looking ahead to the weekend, a wind advisory remains in effect through Saturday evening. Gusty afternoon and evening winds will be strongest across Southern California, especially if you’re traveling west toward the coast or taking Highway 62 up to the high desert. Plan accordingly if your weekend involves time outdoors or road travel.
By next Tuesday, another wave of gusty winds is expected to sweep across the region from the Great Basin, keeping conditions cooler and breezy. Temperatures will dip slightly again, ranging from 99°F to 103°F—definitely a welcome trend for those tired of the recent heat.
According to the Comfort Air Seven-Day Forecast, Saturday could see a high of just 99°F—news that's sure to excite valley residents. The rest of the week is expected to stay near seasonal averages, offering a break from extreme heat.
Whether you're catching the sunrise, planning an evening walk before sunset, or just enjoying the breeze, today is a reminder of summer's bright beginnings and the small weather wins worth celebrating.
