Hurricane Erick slams Oaxaca with widespread damage

Hurricane Erick has caused widespread destruction in Oaxaca, Mexico.
The powerful storm made landfall Thursday, bringing fierce winds and heavy rain.
Trees were uprooted and homes suffered significant damage across the region.
Despite the destruction, no deaths have been reported so far.
That’s according to Mexico’s National Civil Protection Coordination.
Before landfall, Erick reached category 3 strength.
The storm knocked out power for more than 123,000 people.
Fifteen sections of road were also affected by the storm.
After hitting land, Erick weakened to a tropical storm.
But it still left behind flooded streets and damaged boats and buildings.
Authorities are continuing to warn residents about the risk of ongoing heavy rains.
Emergency crews are now working to restore power and clear debris.
