Palm Springs Honors First Responders with Appreciation BBQ After Fertility Clinic Bombing

A special appreciation barbecue was held at the Palm Springs Police Department training center to honor local first responders who bravely responded to last month’s fertility clinic bombing.

The private event brought together community members, civic leaders, and organizations including the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, College of the Desert, Caring Hearts, and AISM Marketing. Guests swapped suits for aprons, serving up burgers, chips, and desserts to thank the men and women of the Palm Springs police and fire departments.

Assemblymember Jeff Gonzalez was among those cooking and greeting the honorees. “This is a small token—food and a few brownies—but it’s our way of saying thank you to the heroes who rushed into a tragic situation without hesitation,” Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez, a veteran with four combat tours, noted the deep respect he has for first responders and their willingness to put community safety above all else. “They don’t do it for recognition. They do it out of love for their community,” he said.

NBC Palm Springs’ Brett Rosen was live on the scene, describing the atmosphere as warm, grateful, and filled with the smell of grilled food and community spirit. “Today is all about showing appreciation for the courage and commitment of those who protect us every day,” Rosen said.

The event served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by local emergency personnel and the community’s ongoing support for their service.
