President Trump Weighs Iran Response as U.S. Evacuates Citizens from Israel
As violence escalates in the Middle East, President Donald Trump says he will decide within two weeks whether to authorize airstrikes on Iran or provide Israel with powerful bunker-busting weapons to target Iranian nuclear infrastructure.
The developments come amid growing fears of wider U.S. involvement. NBC News has confirmed that Iranian missiles struck just one mile from an Israeli military base. In response, European leaders are holding urgent talks in Geneva, hoping to revive nuclear negotiations with Iran. But Iran's foreign minister says diplomacy is off the table as long as Israel continues launching missiles.
Meanwhile, 130 American citizens have been safely evacuated from Israel and have arrived in Florida. Evacuees described the intensity of the situation, saying they often had to rush to bomb shelters in the middle of the night to escape incoming rocket fire.
President Trump’s inner circle on this issue is reportedly small. NBC News has learned that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is not involved in key discussions, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has taken a limited role—though the Pentagon disputes that claim.
Trump has said any potential deal must include a total ban on Iran enriching uranium, a demand Iran has rejected.
As the world awaits the White House's next move, the international community continues to press for a diplomatic path to prevent further escalation.
