Riverside County Voters to Decide New Assembly Member for 63rd District
Riverside County voters will return to the polls on Tuesday to elect a new representative for California’s 63rd Assembly District. The seat became vacant earlier this year after former Assemblymember Bill Essayli was appointed U.S. Attorney by President Donald Trump.
Four candidates are vying for the seat: a Libertarian, a Democrat, and two Republicans. Each brings a different platform to the race, focusing on key issues such as tax relief, education, and public safety. Voter turnout and preferences in this special election could serve as an early indicator of broader trends ahead of 2026’s regular election cycle.
If one candidate secures more than 50% of the vote, they will win the seat outright. However, if no candidate reaches that majority threshold, the top two finishers will move on to a runoff election in November.
This race holds particular importance as the 63rd District includes a diverse cross-section of Riverside County, with residents closely watching to see how the outcome could affect future legislation at the state level.
