Cancer Survivor Leads Healing Yoga Class at Eisenhower Health
June is National Cancer Survivor Month, and one Coachella Valley resident is using her personal journey to uplift others. Shay Muraga, a cancer survivor and founder of the nonprofit Shay's Warriors, is partnering with Eisenhower Health to offer a special healing yoga class designed for fellow survivors.
Each Monday morning, the Lucy Curci Cancer Center in Rancho Mirage becomes a space of healing and community. The "Move to Heal" yoga session led by Muraga focuses not just on physical movement, but on restoring emotional and spiritual wellness.
"The goal is to leave here with a little more flexibility, a lighter heart, and a deeper mind-body-soul connection," said Muraga, who became a certified yoga instructor after experiencing the mental and physical benefits of the practice during her recovery.
Participants describe the classes as transformational—not just for the body, but for the spirit. “Taking this class is a choice to live,” said one attendee. “To move, to connect, and to feel understood.”
Open to cancer survivors at any stage, the sessions promote strength, mobility, and healing in a supportive environment led by someone who truly understands the journey.
