Palm Springs International ShortFest Returns Tuesday with Over 300 Films
The Palm Springs International ShortFest begins Tuesday, bringing one of North America's largest showcases of short-form cinema to the valley for seven days of screenings, networking, and industry events.
Ran by the Palm Springs International Film Society, the festival will screen 311 films across 51 curated programs, featuring works from more than 60 countries at the Festival Theaters in Palm Springs. This year's lineup includes celebrity participants Alan Cumming, Albert Birney, Alicia Silverstone, Ashley Park, Bella Ramsey, Chris Pine, and Rosie O'Donnell.
Film lovers can experience diverse storytelling across every genre, from comedies to documentaries and animations, with most programs running approximately 90 minutes. Many screenings include Q&A sessions that provide insight into the creative process behind the films.
The competitive festival carries significant weight in the film industry as well, with Academy Award, BAFTA, and Goya-qualifying status. Awards include Best of the Festival Award, Best Animated Short, Best Documentary Short, Best Live-Action Short Over 15 Minutes, and Best Live-Action Short 15 Minutes and Under.
