Entertainment Report

Palm Springs Philharmonic Season Announced, Maroon 5 Coming to Acrisure, and ShortFest Debuts a Haunting Film

The spotlight is on music and film this week in the Coachella Valley as the Agua Caliente Entertainment Report, brought to you by Agua Caliente Casinos, features a trio of exciting announcements.

The Palm Springs Friends of Philharmonic has unveiled its upcoming season, which will showcase six world-renowned orchestras at the McCallum Theatre. The season begins January 21 with performances from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Los Angeles Philharmonic. Season subscriptions are now available and are expected to sell out. Interested concertgoers are encouraged to act quickly by visiting psfil.org.

Also coming to town is Maroon 5, bringing their Love Is Like tour to Acrisure Arena on Wednesday, October 8. The multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning band is promoting their new album of the same name, recently previewed through their single “Priceless,” a collaboration with Lisa of Blackpink. General ticket sales begin Friday at Ticketmaster.com.

And over at the Palm Springs International Short Film Fest, which kicks off this week, Manny the Movie Guy sat down with filmmaker Don Josephus Raphael Eblahan, whose short Vox Humana makes its Palm Springs premiere. Shot in the Philippines, the film is a haunting ecological mystery that captures the anxieties of environmental collapse and miscommunication in small communities. It screens under the "Communications Breakdown" program.
