President Trump Announces Ceasefire Between Israel and Iran Amid Ongoing Tensions

Developing tonight, President Donald Trump has announced a temporary ceasefire between Israel and Iran, stating on a social media platform that it will last for 12 hours and could mark the official end of the conflict.

In his statement, Trump claimed there would be a "complete and total ceasefire" and added, “at that point, the war will be considered ended.” The declaration follows more than a week of escalating strikes between Israel and Iran, raising concerns of broader regional instability.

However, Iran appears to dispute the announcement. A senior Iranian official said earlier today that Iran has not received any official ceasefire proposal and sees no reason to pursue one. The conflicting statements have cast doubt on whether the ceasefire will be honored by both sides.

Meanwhile, tensions rose further when Qatari military officials reported that several missiles launched by Iran had been intercepted. The missiles were reportedly aimed at a U.S.-operated air base in Qatar. No casualties have been reported, and Qatari authorities confirmed their air defense systems responded effectively.

As of now, the international community remains cautious, waiting to see if the ceasefire holds or if further military actions resume.
