Hope Levy Honors Lost Music Legend Connie Converse in One-Woman Show at Agua Caliente Casino
This week’s Desert Entertainment features a captivating conversation with singer-songwriter Hope Levy, who takes the stage tonight in The Connie Converse Universe, a one-woman show at the Cascade Lounge in Agua Caliente Casino, downtown Palm Springs.
Levy, a seasoned performer with credits ranging from Les Misérables at the Shubert Theatre to The Music Man at the Hollywood Bowl, is also known for her voiceover work in Boss Baby: Back in Business, Shrek, and Avatar. But her latest project centers on a lesser-known musical pioneer: Connie Converse.
“I discovered her music on Spotify and thought it was Joni Mitchell,” Levy recalls. “But it was Connie—writing poetic, personal songs in the early 1950s, long before the term ‘singer-songwriter’ even existed.” Converse vanished in 1974 at age 50, leaving behind haunting music and unanswered questions. Levy’s show explores her life, disappearance, and lyrics through song and storytelling.
Tickets for tonight’s show, June 25 at 7 p.m., are available at events.palmsprings.com. Levy’s tribute album, Hope Levy Sings Connie Converse, is due out this August.
