Free Microchips and Vaccines Available to Keep Pets Safe During July 4th Holiday

The 4th of July holiday is next week, and while it might be fun for families, it can be very frightening for pets. Every year, animal shelters see a significant spike in lost animals during the holiday, prompting Riverside County Animal Services to take proactive steps to help pet owners protect their furry family members.

To address this annual problem, Riverside County Animal Services is offering free microchips and vaccines to help keep pets safe during the holiday season.

July 4th: A Dangerous Day for Pets

"Fourth of July is one of our most common days for pets to go missing, especially due to the fireworks, the barbecues, the chaos. So please, protect your pet," Coachella Valley Animal Campus officials.

The combination of loud fireworks, unfamiliar visitors, and general holiday commotion creates the perfect storm for pets to become scared and run away from home.

Many pets who are normally comfortable in their surroundings can become panicked by the sudden loud noises and unusual activity.
