The Coachella Valley Prepares For Patriotic Displays Across The Weekend

If you're in the patriotic mood this holiday season, then multiple cities across the valley have you covered.

Indio Independence Day Bash

The City of Indio will hold its Independence Day Bash on Friday at the Empire Polo Grounds. The free, all-ages event opens at 6 p.m. and features music, food, drinks, and a patriotic drone show at 9:30 p.m.

Palm Springs Weekend Celebration

Palm Springs is hosting a full weekend of Independence Day events, beginning Thursday, July 3rd, with a patriotic-themed "Kick Off Party" at Village Fest.

Friday's activities include a pool party at 3 p.m. at the Palm Springs Swim Center, followed by a Palm Springs Power baseball game against the Power Collegiate League All Stars at 6 p.m. The day concludes with a concert in the park at Sunrise Park featuring Beatles tribute band "Hard Days Night," followed by a fireworks spectacular at 9:15 p.m.

Saturday's festivities feature a drive-in movie screening of "Captain America: The First Avenger" at the Palm Springs Center, starting at 7 p.m.

Palm Desert Fireworks Show

Palm Desert will celebrate at Civic Center Park on Friday, with festivities beginning at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks at 9 p.m.

Firework Enforcement Underway

As the Fourth of July approaches, Riverside County agencies have begun their annual crackdown on illegal fireworks. Last year's enforcement effort resulted in nearly 400 citations and 10 arrests, primarily for transporting illegal fireworks.

"Safe and sane" fireworks—including sparklers, fountains, and snappers—remain legal in certain cities such as Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, and Indio. Residents can report illegal fireworks by calling the Sheriff's non-emergency line at 1-800-950-2444.
