"Cooler Days Before the Sizzle: Coachella Valley Briefly Below Average Ahead of July Heat Surge"
Coachella Valley — Happy Thursday, Coachella Valley! Believe it or not, we’re talking about below-average temperatures today. In the middle of summer, that’s almost unheard of. Thursday’s high of 104°F is a few degrees under what we typically expect for early July, and this welcome trend is expected to linger just a bit longer—into your Friday.
That’s good news for those planning to celebrate Independence Day. Friday’s Fourth of July forecast looks mostly pleasant by desert standards: clear skies, seasonal temperatures, and some light gusty winds picking up in the evening. It’s shaping up to be perfect weather for fireworks under the stars.
But don’t get too comfortable.
Starting Sunday, a strong ridge of high pressure will begin to build over the Southwest, driving temperatures back up with a vengeance. Expect highs to climb steadily through the week, reaching 111°F on Sunday and soaring to 115°F by Wednesday and Thursday. That’s a jump of 5 to 15 degrees above seasonal averages—classic desert heat at its peak.
So while you enjoy the slightly milder weather and festive holiday vibes, it’s also time to start prepping for the intense heat that’s just around the corner.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe, Coachella Valley!
