"A Sizzling Week Ahead: July 4th Brings Seasonal Calm Before Desert Heatwave"
Coachella Valley — Happy Fourth of July! Hopefully, you had a wonderful day celebrating Independence Day. Weather-wise, it was nearly perfect for the holiday. Temperatures hovered around seasonal averages, which made for an ideal day to enjoy fireworks, barbecues, and outdoor festivities.
And we’re thankful for that brief weather break—because things are about to heat up in a big way.
Looking ahead, a ridge of high pressure is developing to the east of our region. This system will push southeasterly winds into the Coachella Valley, ushering in monsoonal moisture along with rising temperatures. The result? A combination of extreme heat and elevated humidity—making conditions feel even hotter and a bit more uncomfortable than usual.
Starting Sunday, temperatures are expected to climb into the low 110s, with 111°F on the forecast to kick off the week. And with added moisture in the air, next week’s heat won't just be dry—it'll be sticky and oppressive.
So while the rest of this weekend should remain seasonal and pleasant, residents are urged to prepare now for a hot and humid stretch beginning early next week. Stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during peak heat, and take advantage of any remaining cooler moments.
Enjoy the holiday glow while it lasts—summer in the desert is about to turn up the heat.
