Indio Seeks Public Input on Major Avenue 50 Renovation Project

INDIO - The City of Indio is seeking community feedback on a major infrastructure project that would transform Avenue 50 into a four-lane roadway designed to reduce congestion and improve safety.

The proposed 3.25-mile upgrade would widen Avenue 50 to two lanes in each direction from Jefferson Street to Jackson Street, representing a significant investment in the city's transportation infrastructure.

Comprehensive Road Improvements

The project includes multiple enhancements beyond lane expansion:

• Two lanes in each direction for improved traffic flow

• Center median for safer left turns

• Wider sidewalks for enhanced pedestrian safety

• New curbs and gutters for better drainage

• Updated driveway access points

• Repaved roadway throughout the corridor

• Dedicated bike lanes for safer cycling

The improvements are designed to reduce congestion, improve safety, and prepare Indio for future growth as the city continues to develop.
