Neuralink Brain Microchip Implanted in Patient
The first brain chip developed by Elon Musk's Neuralink was implanted in a patient at the University of Miami Health System. This marks a significant milestone in brain-computer interface technology, as the implant allows a paralyzed individual to control digital devices using only their thoughts. The procedure is part of a clinical trial aimed at helping patients with paralysis due to spinal cord injuries or ALS. The recipient, a paralyzed U.S. military veteran, is now able to wirelessly control a computer, even playing video games, solely through the power of his mind. The Neuralink chip, also known as Telepathy, was implanted by surgeons at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis is also involved in the trial. According to Neuralink, this new technology aims to restore autonomy to those with unmet medical needs and potentially unlock new dimensions of human potential.
