California Allocates $500,000 to Rebuild Palm Springs Fertility Clinic Destroyed in Car Bombing
The State of California has set aside $500,000 in its latest budget to support the reconstruction of the American Reproductive Center’s fertility clinic in Palm Springs, which was destroyed in a car bombing earlier this year.
The funding was included as part of the state’s $321 billion budget package finalized last month. Assemblymember Greg Wallis, who helped secure the funding, praised the bipartisan effort behind the allocation, saying it’s a vital step toward helping Palm Springs recover from the tragedy.
“I was able to reach out to Speaker Revis, Budget Chair Jesse Gabriel, and Scott Wiener in the Senate, and the entire state legislature wanted to help our community,” Wallis said. “Being able to get $500,000 in this tough budget cycle is a really big deal. It’s not going to cover everything, but it’s a step in the right direction.”
Wallis emphasized that while the full cost of rebuilding the clinic will exceed the amount allocated, the funding represents a commitment from California to support Palm Springs and the greater Coachella Valley in its recovery efforts.
The American Reproductive Center had served many local families and individuals seeking fertility treatment before the bombing left the facility heavily damaged.
