Desert Hot Springs Woman Competes for Miss U.S. Latina Title

A journey that began in a small desert town is now taking center stage.

Esthefanía Rodríguez , a Desert Hot Springs native and current Miss California Latina, is headed to Miami to compete in the prestigious Miss U.S. Latina pageant—a national competition that honors beauty, intelligence, and the richness of Latin culture.

“I turned from this young shy girl into a confident woman,” says Rodriguez, reflecting on the path that brought her from local runways to a national stage.

At just 23 years old, she is more than a pageant contestant. She is the daughter of immigrant parents, a first-generation college student who attended UC Riverside, and a passionate advocate for her community.

Her journey in pageantry began years ago—not for fame, but for scholarships, community involvement, and self-growth. Through each competition, Rodríguez says she’s learned that winning the crown is not about appearance alone—it's about winning the hearts of the people she represents.

“With every step I take on the runway, I carry the heart and soul of my community and my Latino culture,” she said.

Rodríguez uses her platform to empower young Latinas and celebrate her heritage. Pageantry, she explains, has given her a voice and the confidence to tell her story, while also helping her connect with her roots.

“It’s become my personal mission to represent my family’s heritage and inspire others to do the same,” she said.

Now preparing for her biggest competition yet, she will join other state representatives from across the country at the Miss U.S. Latina pageant, taking place July 28–30 at the Miccosukee Casino and Resort in Miami, Florida.

“With discipline and preparation, I’m ready—not just to compete, but to share my story and become more than a model... a role model.”

As the big night approaches, all eyes in the Coachella Valley are on Esthefanía, a local woman with big dreams, deep roots, and a message of empowerment that’s as powerful as her presence.
