GED Magazine & The Roost Lounge Host Drag Fundraiser Supporting Local LGBTQ Youth Sanctuary

GED Magazine & The Roost Lounge in Cathedral City hosted a lively drag fundraiser in honor of Ethylina Canne, bringing the community together for a night of celebration and support.

The event Wednesday night featured local community members stepping into the spotlight with drag makeovers, all part of a fundraising effort benefiting Oak Grove Sanctuary Palm Springs. The nonprofit organization helps LGBTQ+ youth ages 18 to 21 as they transition from foster care into independent adulthood, offering vital resources such as housing assistance, mentorship, and life skills support.

Ethylina Canne, a well-known figure in the local drag and entertainment scene, was recognized during the event for her contributions to the community. The City of Cathedral CIty presented Ethylina with a proclamation declaring Wednesday as 'Ethylina Canne Day' in Cathedral City for the 3rd year. Guests enjoyed an evening of performances, transformations, and a shared message of empowerment and inclusion.
The evening was hosted by The Roost Lounge, with support from the City of Cathedral City and produced by GED Magazine, the Valley's preeminent LGBTQ Lifestyle magazine, which also produces monthly Drag Bingo shows at The Roost hosted by Ethylina Canne.

NBC Palm Springs hopes to highlight Oak Grove Sanctuary and the work they do for LGBTQ+ youth in the Coachella Valley soon.
