Ellen DeGeneres Backs Rosie O’Donnell After Trump Suggests Revoking Her Citizenship
Ellen DeGeneres is showing public support for Rosie O’Donnell after President Donald Trump suggested he’s considering revoking O’Donnell’s U.S. citizenship.
On Sunday, DeGeneres posted on Instagram, writing, “Good for you, Rosie,” in response to O’Donnell’s recent remarks addressing the president’s comments.
The situation escalated after Trump posted on Truth Social, saying, “Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
O’Donnell, a New York native, moved to Ireland shortly before Trump’s inauguration in 2017. Her recent criticism of the Trump administration’s response to flooding in central Texas reportedly reignited the public feud between them.
In her Instagram response, O’Donnell wrote, “You call me a threat to humanity — but I’m everything you fear: a loud woman, a queer woman, a mother who tells the truth, an American who got out of the country before you set it ablaze.”
O’Donnell added, “You want to revoke my citizenship? I’m not yours to silence. I never was.”
While Ellen DeGeneres typically avoids political commentary, her post signals rare public support for a fellow entertainer.
Rosie O’Donnell has previously shared with CNN that she has no regrets about relocating to Ireland, saying she was welcomed there with open arms.
