Indio to Unseal 2005 Time Capsule, Launches New 50-Year Capsule Project
The city of Indio is preparing for a unique moment of reflection and celebration this week as it hosts a time capsule ceremony at City Hall.
On Wednesday, city officials will unseal a time capsule that has been buried since 2005, offering a look back at what Indio was like two decades ago. Leaders say the event is a chance for the community to reflect on the city’s growth and progress.
But the ceremony isn’t just about looking back — it’s also about looking forward. A new time capsule will be sealed during the event, set to remain buried for the next 50 years.
Residents are invited to contribute to the new capsule by submitting photos that capture Indio’s present-day character and spirit. Submissions will be accepted through July 18.
Details about how to participate and submit photos are available on the city’s website, which was displayed during the event announcement.
