Indio Plans I-10 Monroe and Jackson Street Interchange Upgrades

Drivers along Interstate 10 in Indio can expect some major road improvements in the coming years. City officials this week provided updates on two long-term projects aimed at easing congestion and enhancing safety: the widening of the Monroe Street and Jackson Street interchanges.

According to city staff, the Monroe Street project will focus on widening and reconstructing on- and off-ramps at the Monroe Interchange. It also includes replacing I-10 overcrossings at the Coachella Valley Stormwater Channel, adding extra through lanes and turn lanes, and integrating the project with the regional CV Link pathway. The Monroe Street portion is scheduled for completion in 2028.

Once the Monroe project wraps up, the city plans to move forward with improvements to the Jackson Street interchange. While no completion date has been set for that phase, officials emphasized the upgrades will further help manage growing traffic demands in and around Indio.

“These projects are all about improving mobility, reducing congestion, and making travel safer for both residents and visitors,” city staff said during this week’s council update.

The city will continue providing public updates as both projects progress, including traffic alerts and construction timelines.
