Local Star Lizzie Schmeling Headlines “Adele Through the Ages” at Palm Springs Cultural Center

One of the Coachella Valley’s favorite performers is stepping into the spotlight with a brand-new show celebrating one of her musical icons.

Actress, singer, and director Lizzie Schmeling will perform Adele Through the Ages on Friday, July 25, at the Palm Springs Cultural Center. The show is part of the center’s Cabaret à la Carte summer series and marks a personal milestone for Schmeling, who has performed in acclaimed productions like Mamma Mia, South Pacific, Fiddler on the Roof, and Cabaret.

Unlike her popular Carpenters tribute show, Schmeling says Adele’s music holds a more direct connection to her own life. “With Adele, that’s my generation,” she shared. “I remember being in high school when ‘Rolling in the Deep’ was everywhere. It’s about having been there as the music came out.”

Her show will explore music spanning Adele’s entire career, from her debut album 19 to her more recent releases. Schmeling says she especially enjoys songs like “Hometown Glory” for their rawness and emotional depth.

Adele Through the Ages is part of a broader series at Palm Springs Cultural Center’s newly converted Theater Two. Other acts in the series include Francesca Amari’s Linda Ronstadt tribute, Eric Scott Romney’s Broadway’s Bad Guys, and Bonnie Gilgallen’s Torch Songs with a Twist.

Schmeling is also well-known for her work with Desert Theatricals, performing regularly at the Rancho Mirage Amphitheater and directing children’s productions through the company’s youth theater program, in partnership with the Richard Brooks Foundation. Past productions include Charlotte’s Web and Stuart Little.

“There are so many talented kids in this town,” Schmeling said. “They come in on the first day of rehearsal already off book—it’s incredible.”

Alongside Schmeling’s performance, several other shows are happening around the Coachella Valley:

  • Eric Scott Romney’s Broadway’s Bad Guys: Friday, July 18, 7:30 p.m., Palm Springs Cultural Center.

  • Falsettos at Palm Canyon Theater: This weekend in downtown Palm Springs.

  • Chris Isaak at Agua Caliente Resort and Casino Rancho Mirage: Saturday, 8 p.m.

  • David Burnham at CV Rep’s Summer Cabaret Series: Tuesday, July 22, 7 p.m.

Tickets for Adele Through the Ages are available through the Palm Springs Cultural Center.
