"Below-Average Temps and Light Showers Welcome Relief to Coachella Valley"
Happy Thursday, Coachella Valley! It may feel a bit muggy out there, but we’re actually getting a break from the extreme heat. Today's high hit 102°F—well below the seasonal average and a welcome change after last week’s intense heat wave. For context, the record high for this date sits at a scorching 120°F, set back in 2005.
You may have felt a few light sprinkles across some of our mountain communities today, but overall, the shower activity came in lower than expected. The good news? We’re not entirely done with the moisture yet. The center of the storm system is still on track to push through the region overnight, bringing better chances for light rain into Friday morning.
As we close out the week, we’ll continue with below-average temps through Friday. Then, as that storm system clears out, we’ll climb back to seasonal conditions just in time for the weekend.
So enjoy the cooler air while it lasts—summer heat will be making its return very soon.
