Palm Springs Library Sets New Dates for Closure, Renovations

PALM SPRINGS (CNS) - The Palm Springs Public Library's planned July
closure and move to a temporary location has been delayed three weeks due to an
HVAC system issue at the new Rimrock Plaza site, officials announced today.

The library, originally set to close July 20-31 for its move, will now
close Aug. 9-24, and the temporary site will open Aug. 25 at 4721 E. Palm
Canyon Drive.

The last day the library will be open to the public before its closure
will be Aug. 8. However, patrons may still attend the closing party from 2-
4 p.m. July 19 at 300 S. Sunrise Way, on the corner of Sunrise Way and Baristo
Road.

Friends of the Palm Springs Library will continue to sell books at the
Palm Springs library -- priced at four books for $1 -- and will have a book
sale area at the temporary site.

The renovations will begin Aug. 25 for 18-36 months and will conclude
February 2027, officials said. A reopening was set for Summer 2027.

Rickrock Plaza will maintain normal hours of operation, and all
essential services will continue at various locations, including Welwood Murray
Memorial Library and Mizell Center, with more locations to be announced at a
later date.
