Woman Drops Off Grenade In Desert Hot Springs
First responders in Desert Hot Springs received an unusual surprise Tuesday when a woman walked into Riverside County Fire Station 37 with what she believed was an old grenade she had found in the desert. Out of caution, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Hazardous Device Team (HDT) was called in to examine the device. Fortunately, HDT determined the grenade was inert and posed no danger. In response, the Desert Hot Springs Police Department issued a reminder to the public. They say "if you find something that even looks explosive, don’t touch it and don’t transport it yourself. Call us right away."
