"Cooler Kickoff: Coachella Valley Starts the Week Below Average"

COACHELLA VALLEY, CA — It’s not every day you hear someone say 100 degrees feels “pretty good,” but for the Coachella Valley in the middle of summer, it’s a small victory worth celebrating.

The region kicked off the week with a high of 100 degrees—eight degrees cooler than the seasonal average of 108. While it may still be triple digits, the noticeable drop offered some much-needed relief from the more intense heat of recent weeks. Many residents even noted how much more tolerable the day felt, with one saying, “At least I didn’t burn my legs getting into my car!”

Looking ahead, that trend of slightly cooler temperatures will continue through Friday, with highs expected to hover between 102 and 106. A low-pressure system off the coast is stirring up some showers along the ocean, but here in the desert, conditions will remain hot and dry. There is a bit of monsoonal moisture floating around, but it's staying well east of the region.

Expect breezy evenings, especially as we move into Tuesday night, but nothing too disruptive. The cooler-than-usual weather will stick around just a few more days, before things return to more typical desert summer conditions by Sunday.

So while it may not exactly be sweater weather, for Coachella Valley in July—it’s a win.
