Riverside County Animal Services Encourages Pet Adoptions During National Adoption Week with PetSmart Charities
As temperatures rise this summer, Riverside County Department of Animal Services (RCDAS) is turning up the warmth with compassion by teaming up with PetSmart Charities® for National Adoption Week, taking place from July 21 through July 27. The goal: help pets in need find forever homes and bring joy into the lives of local families.
Adoption events will be held on Monday, July 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at two PetSmart locations — 34900 Monterey Ave in Palm Desert and 2153 W Florida Ave in Hemet. These events will feature adoptable pets of all breeds, ages, and personalities in a welcoming and interactive setting.
“Partnering with PetSmart Charities allows us to get more pets into the community to help them find their forever homes,” said Veronica Perez, Public Information Officer at RCDAS. “We are grateful to be part of this important event that helps connect loving families with pets who need a second chance.”
Adopting a pet not only saves that animal’s life but also opens up shelter space for others in need. According to Heidi Marston, Director of Pet Placement Initiatives at PetSmart Charities, “Adopting or fostering a pet can be an incredibly enriching experience. We all have a role to play in helping pets in need.”
Beyond the emotional rewards, pet adoption brings health benefits to owners — including reduced loneliness and increased physical activity. Children can also learn responsibility and empathy through caring for animals.
