Cathedral City, CA — Starting Friday, July 25, Cathedral City will reduce speed limits on 11 key roads in an effort to make driving conditions safer for everyone. The move comes amid growing concerns from residents about speeding, road rage, and pedestrian safety on the city’s wide, fast-moving streets.

City officials say the changes are intended to reduce accidents and improve safety for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. Some residents, however, believe enforcement may be a driving factor behind the reductions.

Here's a breakdown of the upcoming changes:

• Date Palm Drive: 55 ➡️ 50 mph (Vista Chino to 30th Ave)

• Palm Drive: 60 ➡️ 55 mph (I-10 to Varner Rd)

• Ramon Road: 50 ➡️ 45 mph (Date Palm Dr to Neuma Dr, and Neuma Dr to Da Vall Dr)

• McCallum Way: 30 ➡️ 25 mph (Date Palm Dr to Da Vall Dr)

• Mountain View Rd: 55 ➡️ 50 mph (Varner Rd to north city limits)

• Varner Road: 55 ➡️ 50 mph (West city limits to Edom Hill Rd)

• Vista Chino: 55 ➡️ 50 mph (West city limits to Avenida Maravilla)

• Santoro Drive: Increase from 25 ➡️ 35 mph (30th Ave to McCallum Way)
