Trump Marks Six Months in Office as Epstein Controversy Lingers

President Trump is marking six months into his second term with a focus on his administration's accomplishments and upcoming trade deals, even as controversy surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein case continues to cast a shadow over the White House.

“We hit a lot of home runs, and we're going to keep hitting them,” the president said, touting the passage of a major tax and spending bill, an aggressive deportation strategy, and new tariffs on international trading partners. Reciprocal tariffs are set to take effect August 1, with Trump stating that negotiations are still possible, but other nations will begin facing the new costs next month.

Despite his push to focus on policy wins, Republican infighting over the Epstein case remains a distraction. Trump insists his support among Republicans has grown since what he calls the “Epstein hoax.” However, new CBS polling shows his overall approval rating slipping, with the Republican base nearly split on the issue.

Public demand for transparency continues to build. Eighty-nine percent of those surveyed said the Justice Department should release all Epstein-related documents. At the president’s request, the DOJ has now asked a judge to unseal grand jury transcripts.

Meanwhile, pressure is rising for convicted Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell to testify before Congress. Former Epstein attorney Alan Dershowitz called her the “Rosetta Stone,” saying, “She arranged every single trip.”

With Epstein’s legacy still in the headlines, the administration’s efforts to move forward remain complicated by calls for accountability.
