Cooler Than Usual With Breezy Evenings Across the Valley

Happy Tuesday, Coachella Valley!

Today’s high topped out at 100°F—certainly hot, but still noticeably cooler than our seasonal norm of 108°F. It may not sound like much, but that below-average reading is a welcome break from the intense summer heat we typically endure this time of year. And with the record high of 121°F from back in 2006 still standing tall, today's forecast feels like a small victory.

If you got the chance to cool off by the pool or hide out in the shade, you likely enjoyed some brief summer comfort. But don’t let today’s "mild" numbers fool you—triple-digit heat is still in play, and those gusty winds are rolling in by late afternoon.

As we look ahead to Wednesday, an onshore flow will keep things breezy, especially through wind-prone corridors like Desert Hot Springs and Whitewater—just north of the I-10. While no formal wind advisories have been issued, you’ll certainly notice the gusts picking up during the evening hours.

Monsoonal moisture? That’s mainly tracking east of the valley for now. But we’ll keep an eye on it as the pattern evolves.

For the rest of the week, expect below-average highs to hold steady—great news if you're hoping for a slight break before we heat back up. By Sunday, we're looking at a return to those more typical seasonal temperatures.

So enjoy the breeze, soak up the slightly cooler days, and stay safe in the sun, Coachella Valley!
