Military Aircraft Training Exercise Rattles Palm Springs Area
If you heard loud noise or felt your windows rattle on Tuesday, you weren’t alone. Military aircraft were spotted flying over the Palm Springs and Cathedral City area as part of a routine training exercise.
Palm Springs International Airport released a statement confirming that while they do not have any military units based at the airport, they are required by federal law to grant access to military aircraft when needed.
The airport also clarified that it does not receive advance notice of these flights, which explains the sudden noise that startled many valley residents throughout the afternoon.
Several viewers called in to report the sound and vibration, concerned about the unexpected activity. Airport officials emphasized that this type of training exercise is standard and nothing to be alarmed about.
