Palm Desert’s 1% Sales Tax Measure G Generates Millions, More Growth Expected
Palm Desert's 1% sales tax, known as Measure G, is proving to be a significant source of revenue for the city.
The Palm Desert Finance Committee met this morning at City Hall to review the latest figures. According to documents on the agenda, Measure G generated approximately $4 million during the 2025 fiscal year, which ended in June. From April to June alone, the tax brought in $1 million.
Looking ahead, city officials project even more robust numbers. The report estimates the sales tax will bring in over $20 million during the 2026 fiscal year.
All revenue from the tax is earmarked exclusively for city use. Planned spending includes increasing staffing at the Palm Desert Police Department and funding the construction of the new Palm Desert Library—a project NBC Palm Springs reported on just a few weeks ago.
Public meetings to discuss the measure and its financial impacts began this morning at City Hall and are expected to continue in the coming weeks.
