Amazon Acquires AI Startup Behind Audio-Recording Wearable Device
Amazon has acquired Bee, an artificial intelligence startup that produces a wearable device capable of continuously recording and analyzing audio from users' daily activities.
Bee's $50 wristband device uses AI to process recorded audio, automatically transcribing conversations and generating summaries, to-do lists, and other organizational tasks based on what it captures. The device operates by default in transcription mode but includes a mute function for users who want to disable recording.
The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed by Amazon. The company stated it plans to collaborate with Bee's team to enhance user control features for the devices, addressing potential privacy concerns associated with continuous audio monitoring.
The purchase represents Amazon's continued expansion into AI-powered consumer devices and voice technology applications.
