Katherine Aleman Announces Congressional Bid in California's 41st District

Katherine Aleman, a public school teacher and former Norco City Council member, officially launched her campaign for Congress in California's 41st District on Tuesday morning at the Democratic headquarters in Cathedral City.

Aleman brings a background that includes work as a public school teacher, small business owner, and mother of four children. She previously served on the Norco City Council, where she was the only Democrat on the council in what is considered a heavily Republican district.

The candidate announced her campaign with endorsements from more than 100 local elected officials and community leaders, including former U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer, State Senator Sabrina Cervantes, Corona Vice Mayor Jacque Casillas, Riverside County Supervisor Jose Medina, and Palm Springs City Council Member Grace Garner.

California's 41st Congressional District covers portions of the Coachella Valley and other areas of the Inland Empire. Aleman will challenge incumbent Representative Ken Calvert, who currently holds the seat, along with other candidates in the race.

In her campaign announcement, Aleman focused on economic concerns facing families in the district, including healthcare costs, housing expenses, and utility bills. She criticized Calvert's voting record, specifically referencing his vote on healthcare coverage that she claims would have affected veterans, families, and disabled residents in the district.

Aleman's political experience includes her service on the Norco City Council, where supporters say she worked on government transparency and fiscal responsibility issues. Her professional background spans education, having worked as a teacher in the Corona-Norco school district, and small business ownership.

The 41st District has been a competitive battleground in recent election cycles, with both parties viewing it as a potential pickup opportunity depending on the political climate and candidate strength.
