Pam Bondi Briefed Trump That His Name Was in Epstein Files
Sources tell CNN that in May, former Attorney General Pam Bondi informed President Donald Trump that his name appeared in Justice Department documents tied to the Jeffrey Epstein case.
The briefing, also attended by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, was described by White House officials as routine. They said Trump’s mention in the documents wasn’t the sole focus, and that other high-profile names were also discussed. According to officials, investigators found no credible evidence of a “client list” or any reason to dispute that Epstein died by suicide.
The Justice Department reportedly reviewed several claims in the documents — including those related to Trump — but found them unsubstantiated and not credible. It remains unclear how Trump’s name was referenced in the files. Trump, like many figures in 1990s New York, had social ties to Epstein but has denied any wrongdoing.
A White House official told CNN that Trump’s name had already appeared in DOJ materials made public and said the administration is “not surprised.” Communications Director Steven Cheung added, “The President kicked out of his club for being a creep,” dismissing the focus on the documents as politically motivated.
Despite Trump’s recent denial that Bondi told him he was in the files, sources say the briefing did occur. This comes as the White House faces criticism — even from some in the MAGA base — for not releasing more Epstein-related documents.
Frustration reportedly erupted inside the White House earlier this year when Bondi failed to redact Trump’s name from binders shared with influencers. That lapse continues to be a sore spot between the Justice Department and the administration.
In a statement, Bondi and Blanche reaffirmed the DOJ’s July 6 conclusion: there was no evidence warranting further investigation. They also confirmed the filing of a motion to unseal grand jury transcripts and said Trump was briefed on the findings.
Pressure continues to mount, as a bipartisan group of lawmakers demands full release of the Epstein files. A House Oversight subcommittee has subpoenaed the DOJ to release the documents.
Adding to the scrutiny, a Wall Street Journal report last week revealed a letter bearing Trump’s name and a sketch of a nude woman, allegedly part of a 2003 birthday album gifted to Epstein. Trump denied writing the letter and is now suing the paper over the story.
