Pet of the Week: Applesauce

Valerie Katz from Animal Samaritans joined us this morning to introduce Applesauce, an adorable 4-month-old puppy looking for her forever home. This sweet and calm mixed-breed pup was found abandoned but has since thrived at the No-Kill Shelter, where she gets along wonderfully with her kennel mates and shows great social skills with other dogs.

Applesauce appears to be a mix of Chihuahua, Dachshund, and possibly Italian Greyhound, with her elegant, long neck and body. Despite being a puppy, she's notably well-behaved – not mouthy like many young dogs her age, though she's still learning as any baby would. Her small paws indicate she'll remain a petite companion, likely staying in the small to small-medium size range.

During the segment, Valerie also highlighted Animal Samaritans' urgent need for donations to their medical fund, specifically to help April, a dog hit by a car who requires $2,500 in surgery for two broken legs. The Cade L. Morrow fund, which assists animals with urgent medical needs, has been depleted and needs community support to continue helping animals like April who have no owners to cover their medical expenses.
