'Building The Band' Now On Netflix
Netflix's new reality competition series "Building The Band" combines elements of dating shows with singing competitions, challenging contestants to form musical groups. The show has crowned its first winners: 3-Quency, an all-female group consisting of members Nori, Brianna, and Wennely.
The series format requires contestants to select bandmates without seeing each other first, relying solely on musical compatibility before meeting face-to-face. According to the winning group members, this approach creates a unique dynamic similar to finding a "chosen family."
3-Quency member Brianna cited her longtime admiration for girl groups like Destiny's Child and The Cheetah Girls as motivation for joining the competition. The group described their individual roles within the band: Brianna serves as the connecting force, Wennely brings consistent positivity and energy, and Nori provides humor to lighten stressful moments.
The show features guest judges and mentors, including Kelly Rowland. The late Liam Payne of One Direction also served as a judge and mentor, filming his segments months before his death in 2024. Netflix included a tribute to Payne at the beginning of the series. The winning group praised Payne's mentorship, crediting him with helping them embrace their stage presence and work effectively as a team.
Contestants on the show compete in performance challenges before judges, with the ultimate goal of forming a successful musical group. The series is currently streaming on Netflix.
