Tara Beier on Healing Through Music, Motherhood, and Her Joshua Tree Journey
Singer-songwriter Tara Beier joined us to talk about her deeply personal new album, “Morning Doves at Joshua Tree,” and the life experiences that shaped it.
Beier revealed that the album grew out of a period of grief following the loss of her grandmother, the matriarch of her family. Seeking stillness, she retreated to Joshua Tree with her husband and young twins. “It’s basically an album about grief and loss, but also personal growth and development,” she explained. “I’m all about being positive, trying to evolve ourselves, giving hope, and connecting to a higher power. The desert really connected with me because of the stillness and the nature.”
In addition to her music, Beier has developed a natural, vegan fragrance. The lavender and witch hazel-based spray, created over a decade, can be used on skin, linens, or as a room mist. “Hope and healing is all what I’m about,” she said.
Balancing music and motherhood, Beier shared that she consciously waited to have children until she felt personally ready. Through IVF, she became the mother of twins. “I think what it is, is they’re just a reflection of what I do, which is to create and appreciate the beauty in the world. I love to just be present as a mother,” she said. “I’m so grateful, and at the same time I’m not forgetting about myself. Balance is about never letting go of who you are.”
Following the conversation, viewers got a chance to hear her song “Rainbow,” a reflection of her journey through hardship to hope.
